NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW I AM GOING TO MAKE INTO CHANDELIER + ATTACHMENT OF THE LIGHT

I was not expecting the shadows to translate so well from the clear pieces

Frosted pieces diffuse the light more than expected

Connections

The inspiration for this project came from a lampshade specifically the seam of the lamp shade and the shadow it casts, the form of the project was inspired by an architectural drawing by Bea Martin ( instagram.com/bgommartin ). I originally planned to design a frame for the lamp so I could place the acrylic/glass pieces within that framing system, but I realized the frame would cast hard shadows that I was trying to avoid so instead this exploration of connecting the acrylic pieces directly to each other without any additional frame or adhesive came about.

CNC WORKSHOP

Congrats you survived Fusion ! save your file to a portable flash drive or email it to yourself.

Checkout the ShopBot toolkit and ShopBot computer from the shop (ACROSS FROM THE WOOD SHOP)
Do a visual inspection of the toolkit

migrate to the shop basement via elevator a SHOP MEMBER SHOULD COME AND UNLOCK THE DOOR
Copy your file into the ShopBot Jobs folder from your flash drive or email
Take your flash drive out of the computer

prepping the machine

Connect the ShopBot USB Cable into the ITP/IMA Machine Laptop
           Flip up the red cap and flick the switch
               Up = ON
              Down = OFF
  On the yellow controller, turn the spindle on . The bottom switch is for the spindle (they are all labeled)

back to the laptop , find the shopBot3 software  on the shop laptop

move the spindle out the way so that you can load your material and so that you can also warm the spindle up if the machine has not been used in the last 30 mins.

the pop up is just asking you to make sure you set the HZ to 150 on the CNC machine (picture below)

put the collet and collet nut together + attach your bit

zeroing the machine to your material

Use the arrow keys in the software keypad to move the spindle to the project origin
Hit the blue “zero axes” button and tell it to zero the X and Y axes , make sure only x and y are checked

setting your Z axis

Using the keypad, move the spindle down close to the highest point of your stock material. Put a piece of paper on the material under the spindle, and slowly move the spindle down while moving the paper around. When the spindle comes into contact with your paper, you will feel friction against the paper as you move it.

turn on the dust collection

load your file

Hit the green start button once your file is loaded and set the HZ on the machine to 300
once you hit ok the machine will start , so make sure you are wearing proper eye protection and ear protection it an get very loud.

Thoughts

André Masson, "Ofelia", 1937

what would this look like in a 3d form ? I don't know

The lampshade connection folds inward but also projects its connecting pattern into the space in the form of a shadow. Redesigning the lampshade with the defined parameters of the three-point support structure.
How could I develop this into more of an ITP project ? what Interactions make sense or incorporating additional electronic components?
